But if someone who is basically decent gets arrested how do you distinguish between "decent" people and those that are not? Are people that sell illegal drugs to kids decent? Do you suppose that some folks end up in jail because they DESERVE to be there? What about the ones that don't want to learn to read and write in jail.....do we violate their rights by forcing literacy on them? Do you think some CAN'T be rehabilitated? What do we tell the the families of victims killed by prisoners out on "day passes" or at birthday parties? Do we admit that this social manipulation doesn't work or, as you mentioned in a previous post, simply tell them that the death of their loved one was a small price to pay for the greater social good? Would you be willing to sacrifice one of yours for the "greater good"???? I would not. I find it extremely entertaining that socialists who are against the death penalty claim is is not worth the risk of "one innocent person being wrongly executed" while at the same time don't mind letting drug dealers kill other peoples children. Do not misunderstand, this is not an accusation, only an observation open for comment.
