Columbia Journalism Review Gets Hammered

Bob Kohn

The Columbia Journalism Review got what they deserved in this critique appearing in today's Washington Examiner. Asserting that CJR has been nudging the media to the left for years, writer Laura Vanderkam concludes,

<<<
"Now [CJR] has to compete--and it's not happy about it at all. Blogs these days are holding the MSM's feet to the fire, forcing newspapers and TV news shows to reflect the country's politics more accurately.
>>>

Yup, it's definitely a war (not just a struggle) between the MSM media critics and the alternative media critics, and it's clear who is winning.

UPDATE (2/8/05): Apparently, I got caught in the cross-fire. In a recent article by Corey Pein entitled Blog-gate, CJR had this to say about a comment I made on MSNBC's Scarborough Country:

<<<
The Memogate melee peaked in late September. On cable, Joe Scarborough of MSNBC held forth with hasty overstatements: "I'm supposed to say 'allegedly forged.' I think everybody in America knows these documents were forged." His guests threw in anything that sounded good: "You know, Dan Rather's being called on the Internet, 'Queen of the Space Unicorns,'" said Bob Kohn, author of a book on why The New York Times "can no longer be trusted." (The "Space Unicorn" line had first appeared on Jim Treacher's conservative humor blog, and quickly wound up on The Wall Street Journal's online opinion page.)

I am genuinely honored to have been quoted out of context by such an emanent institution
