Point well taken. I suppose that the nifty new Safeway down at Ken Caryl doesn't really 'suck', its pretty nice, but the one in Conifer is a 3rd rate grocery at best. I've lived in both S.F. & Seattle for several years each. You got the best grocery stores in the country up in Seattle, best produce, best selection of any & all food groups, yet there are still plenty of families who would rather spend time in other ways than draggin' the troops thru the grocery isles. Peapod will do very well in the bay area, anybody who's done the 101 commute, & HAS to feed the family, will recognize the value of the service. I guess when you don't have to pay rent on all that expensive retail space, (including parking lotz), & staff multiple stores 24/7, you've got a little bit extra for direct customer service. Oh, & I wouldn't count on stodgy 'ol Safeway being able to own the e-commerce grocery market, they certainly aren't acting like the leader in a multi-billion dollar a year opportunity, but Peapod is.
