Florida Democrat apologizes for racist remarks

Representative Corrine Brown (D-Florida), who is black, told Assistant Secretary of State Roger Noriega, a Mexican-American, that the President’s Haiti policy was racist and had been drafted by a “bunch of white men.” Secretary Noriega told her that he would pass her remarks on to Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. He later told her that as a Mexican-American, he resented being called a racist and a white man. Brown shot back that “you all [whites, Hispanics] look alike to me.”

She apologized Thursday:
