Re: Not being resident in the U.S., I would not expect you to know the "man on the street sentiment". Basically, many American company's have e-mails circulating with strong hawk sentiments.
I couldn't care less about Joe-Six-Pack... US mass media are bamboozling public opinion as never before. However, I've the feeling that Europe's economic decline along with its dwindling share in global trade and the rise of China will allow the Bush Administration to strike back --without hurting US economic interests, that is...
Of course, the whole scenario could be nipped in the bud if President G.W. Bush is ASSASSINATED in the coming months... Think about it: currently, Prez Bush is in the same situation as Prez J.F. Kennedy was in 1964.
JFK wanted to scrap the CIA after the Bay of Pigs fiasco; likewise, GW Bush will have to overhaul the CIA after the '98 embassies bombings and 911 fiascos.
JFK planned to withdraw from Vietnam and favored a political settlement with North Vietnam; likewise, GW Bush doesn't plan to carpet-bomb Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Iran, Lybia, etc although hawkish Jews within his administration have openly called for it (Wolfowitz & Co).
JFK opposed Israel's nuclear program and demanded that it discarded the French-sponsored Dimona plant --Israel's then-PM Ben Gourion met with JFK in NY on that issue... Likewise, GW Bush's displeasure with Ariel Sharon is growing by the day...
Finally, isn't it troubling to notice that both the Kennedys and the Bush's are two political dynasties with only one difference: tragedy has only struck the former, so far...
