fivebagger, it's the e-mini nasdaq futures we are talking about, NOT the full sized Nasdaq 100 index, as those are worth $100 a point. Someone else asked about this earlier so I thought I'd post the info.

The e-mini nas, each point is worth $20 and the S&P mini each pt is worth $50. Small time stuff compared to the full size contracts the big boys trade...

If you are trading stocks, you should be watching them as they lead the cash market and give great directional signals.

You are highly leveraged when trading these, as you are laying out about 2k per contract as a performance bond to control about 32k worth of stock (2x the current index value). The big contracts you are controlling 5x that amount of stock...$100 per point, trading underlying stocks valued at about 160k as of today. So to trade these things at the top in 2000, it required MUCH more cash than it does today.

Risk is high as they can really run away from you...that's why I'm only trading 3 contracts max at one time, and usually feel more comfortable with only two since I'm a newbie. I only traded two today, bought one at a time.

You can also trade options on the futures.

Here is all the info, this site has all you need to know, and some great educational stuff.
