Globe says Alamos's Ontario gold operation suspended Alamos Gold Inc (C:AGI) Shares Issued 391,780,970 Last Close 4/15/2020 $9.30 Thursday April 16 2020 - In the News The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, April 16, edition that mines in Quebec are ramping up after restrictions that kept operations to a minimum were lifted. The Globe's Niall McGee and Nicolas Van Praet write that on March 23, Quebec ordered all non-priority businesses to temporarily minimize operations. Under the directive, miners that operate in Quebec had to put their sites on care and maintenance, unlike Ontario and British Columbia, which had deemed the sector an essential business. Quebec changed course on Monday, putting mining on its list of priority businesses. It came to realize the sector is a necessary part of the supply chain for many essential products. Alamos Gold temporarily suspended production at a gold mine located in the small community of Dubreuilville, in Northern Ontario. Regardless of the jurisdiction, the costs to keep workers safe are creeping up across the country. Quebec Mining Association president Josee Methot says: "For sure it will cost more to produce in these conditions. There's no doubt it will cost more.
