As a general topic,
backup/archive/rotation/restoration is a very complex subject.

I'm continuing to explore this subject , seeing whats out there and sorting out how these apps differ.

For
my purposes, something like 2copy sounds very close
to the starting point I'd use for my own automated backups

Suresync was mentioned also...its similar to 2copy but more options

Just gotta know what you want

Thanks to your endless patience with me my backupNT is in place with all the necessary apps to carry on. And I also make DIs and have a BE rotation onto removable hdds.

As you know I want just one more layer of redundancy which would combine the timelyness and ease of execution of BE with the immediate availablity of raid systems. There is alot of sw out there in this quasi raid catagory.

I know you're not real happy with how you handle your backups now. Why not take a look at SecondCopy centered.com
and Suresync suresync.com and tell us what you think. I'm only saying these are possibilities. If we could pinpoint their drawbacks we'd have more ammo to continue looking...there's so much of this sw available I'm confident there is an optimum solution to be found.
