Nadine, Modern treatments cost more. So costs would rise even if the system were efficient... This is the major point that is ignored in the current debate. Attempts at rationing would not be well accepted here - does anyone remember Oregon de-listing transplants for Medicaid patients and the furor that caused? How to fix this? Unknown and not discussed by either side in our political debate. Unfortunately, I don't have any answer either :-( John
