My wife works for a big company. She broke her knee off in a horse accident in '99. 4 months off with full pay, medical costs close to $80k, we paid about $1,500. When I had a small 7 employee clothing store the insurance was very expensive and if you were in pain they'd pay for a bullet you could bite on.
