Jeffry,
The margin selling comes when the clerks order their clients positions sold out at market. They don't care what price -- big piles of inventory hit the market in a massive wave. Watching RT quotes I was seeing sales go off below the bid and ask -- similar to what happens when people panic sell at the open and the MM's take them out low. JDSU et. al. have a lot of margined positions (Q too) and most folks don't send in the money to cover the call....so it gets real ugly then subsides. You'll notice especially JDSU usually trades up again after the close. Who knows when it finally ends? Hopefully soon.
Best Regards,
JF3
