"No one is arguing against self evident rights. I am saying what are they?; and how do we achieve them all the time.? Jefferson failed."

===================================

He did pretty well considering the time and circumstances he had to work with. But I agree in part and wish we could have a do-over. Example: The 2nd amendment is flawed. There is no natural right to weapons except that it stems from the natural right of self defense. That premise may be assumed to be present in the amendment but I would have preferred that it was stated and that bearing arms is simply an extension of the natural right of self defense. I would prefer their had been a lot more work on defining what we mean by self evident natural rights. Same with free speech, it should be freedom of conscience, which extends to conscientious speech. Then all this bizarre nastiness we get with freedom of expression could be curtailed, much of it being unconscionable or exploitive and degrading. I could go on but you get the point...
