No, social equality does not depend on the idea that men and women are the same, merely that women are not dependents, and that they are capable of taking positions of significant responsibility.

However, as long as women have the prime nurturing instincts, and men are more aggressive, there is likely to remain a residual allegiance, even among the secular, to traditional patterns of sexual interaction, and even more so among the religious, who are more socialized to read purpose into sexual disparity. Thus, social equality is likely to be diluted and merely "virtual".....

I am a brave soul, and the issues are interesting.......
