Run as the anti-war pro-taxes national health care candidate and you're the leftist regardless of Dean might have done in the past baancing budgets in Vermont.

People don't care about the minutia, they care about the big message and image. Dean is the kind of the angry Democrats wanting to return the party to the pre-CLinton era. Maybe he's got a few specks of moderaacy in him but the overwhelming impression is that he's a leftist. When he says he wants to take the party back with the Democratic wing of the Dem party, that means liberal. Don't even bother to BS yourself about that. Nothing wrong with being liberal, but don't try to change your man's stripes in mid stream. Kerry is also a liberal, but for less taxes, less natioal health care and tougher on national defense. Also much more experienced than Dean.
