O'Neill has very strong GOP connections. What are you talking about? O'Neill was also a very strong supporter of the Vietnam War even after it had turned into a total disaster, was wounding our country badly, was exposed as riddled with horrible atrocities, was unwinnable, killed 55,000 Americans and was proven to have been started based on lies.

John O'Neill: Protégé of Watergate felon Chuck Colson and Richard Nixon (the former President), who set him on the then-anti-war Kerry to attack Kerry's high credibility - and has been a strong Kerry-hater since. His law firm has strong connections with the Bush White House (e.g., one of his partners was the former (scandal-involved) general counsel to Bush Jr. in Texas). Formerly clerked with now Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who was Nixon's favorite. Also, Bush Sr. had considered O'Neill for a federal judgeship.

Also remember, after we left Vietnam, that country hasn't been a threat to us at all since. In fact, what was the first thing they did after we left? Kicked out the Soviets and went to war against the red Chinese.
