you know, i actually agree with you that qcom's stock price would shoot higher under your compromise. sad but true. but the domino affect on reductions for wcdma handset sales in china and india would cost qcom billions - of course, conversely you will say that such a reasonable compromise as yours will provide incremental royalties (earnings) sooner in those countries while saving hundreds of millions in annual litigation fees.

Ericsson and Nokia already have a royalty rate that is well below the average....how much impact have we seen on the rates paid in China/India?
