<The delay in the effect of anthropogenic Co2 is largely due to absorption in the ocean, and the fact the absorption is not permanent>

Unless the temperature of the ocean increased, the CO2 would stay dissolved or remain in balance with new CO2 dissolving. But there's a constant drain in the ocean as chlorophyll plants in the ocean gobble the dissolved CO2 and begin the ocean food chain, which mostly ends up in oceanic sediment, trundling to the subduction zones.

There was a huge chlorophyll zone near NZ recently. Plants just love the bonus CO2 they are getting.

Maybe you just mean the level of CO2 we are emitting now is going to gradually fill the ocean and once it's full, the CO2 will simply build up in the atmosphere.

After 100 years, I'd say the levels in the ocean and atmosphere have reached a steady state with increases as we increase production further. If production leveled off now, I dare say the levels in the atmosphere and ocean would level off in a year or three too.

The size of the ocean and amount of oceanic plant life and food chain is vast and I find it hard to believe we are managing to fill that up.

I prefer neither global warming as a challenge, nor war. I like sentient cyberspace as a challenge and the prevention of a reglaciation. I can live with some warming and sea level rise, but another ice age onset would be very bad news.

If Dutch people think water coming over a dyke is bad, they should think what a kilometre of ice on top of them would be like. At least they could float on ocean and catch fish.
