Yeah but someone else believing in their importance is not the same as them believing in it. Remember, when the English asked permission to take home piece by piece the exquisite Roman temples they excavated in Anatolia, the Ottoman Padishah said "There stones? What do you want them for? Well, take'em....".

To the Taliban (who I believe were not extremely well educated in the importance of Buddhist philosophy) they were just giant rocks showing human figure in sculpture. You think they were impressed when "infidels" told them they were important artifacts? <g>
