I like Rand for a lot of practical reasons however it might be the wiser course to view this life as a test for eternity.

When it comes to the great hereafter keep in mind what G.K. Chesterton said.

"We fear men so much, because we fear God so little. One fear cures another. When man's terror scares you, turn your thoughts to the wrath of God." GKC

When it comes to bickering with lunatics on SI keep this in mind.

When it comes to dealing with the government keep this in mind.
