Personal note on SBAS. About 1.5 years ago, I evaluated the StarTeam product against the industry-standard product from Rational which was about 4x the price at that time. SBAS was just creating the version of StarTeam that was supposed to compete directly with Rational's ClearCase package. They were late with the product and it was a little too new to take a chance on but it had impressive specifications and the beta copies we looked at were good. Don't know anything about them since, but if they kept up the momentum on the StarTeam product, it should be quite good at this time.

If I remember correctly, the whole StarTeam product originated from some database package that was the original product of the company. When they found out that it wouldn't sell, they whipped up the StarTeam product based on that database package.
