CC notes That was the shortest CC I've ever heard. I only heard two analysts ask questions through the online connection. They said they are in no position to give guidance on Q1. When asked about strength in US vs. Europe - US is weak, especially the west. Northern Europe is the softest (like the UK) but moving south towards Germany it is strong, with Germany being the strongest. In Asia, Japan is slowest. Seeing a slowdown in Australia/New Zealand and Korea. The second analyst asked, given NTAP's slowdown is greater than EMC's, if companies are relunctant to buy NAS. NTAP basically said no. Didn't hear the full reason... Then Tom Mendoza, I think, said he has been traveling the world talking to companies. He said talk about TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) is "resonating" now. He said literally all companies are asking about it now and whether their products can raise revenues or lower costs, as opposed to last year when they asked about service, availability, and other stuff. He said NTAP's products have a lower TCO than EMC's and that the company is well positioned to take advantage of this in the future when the slowdown ends. When asked about % of repeat buyers vs. new they said 35-40% of North American buyers are usually new.
