I'm assembling some parts to make an experimental box of sorts ...
I've been intrigued with the concept of the TIVO dealie which has been advertised heavily --- the one with the dude freezing the frame at the Tennessee field goal attempt, rushing to the chapel, praying, THEN coming back to the tv to see the attempt executed -- you know the one of which I speak ...
anyway --- in my feeble brain lurks the "idea" of how I could do it .... haven't even checked out how or how much on the TIVO one ....
what the heck ... I can make my own .... or so I'm trying ...
ordered some stuff to go with the big Gateway monitor which is what I'm planning on using ....
Creative .. the SoundBlaster company .. has a line of remote controllable parts, DVD, Dolby 5.1 sound, FM, etc.
I'm going to "attempt" to couple that with the new ATI Radeon AllInWonder vid card (daMNed if I EVER thought I pay 250bucks for a vid card) ...
hooking all of it up on a Creative MB running 512 RAM and a P900 chip ...
that rig is to sit along side the big screen tv, both of which (the 27Gateway and the big Hitachi) will be heard through a Bose Home Entertainment speaker system ... those litttttttle bittttty speakers DO amaze me ....
now the only thing is to find time, luck, and energy to get it all debugged and working ....
Mare had said the pic in pic on the big screen .. we use it a LOT ... didn't have any sound ... and I liked the concept of tivo ..
she had decided to get me something for my 60th birthday next week along the lines of a 32inch tv to put in the tv room with the big screen, so we could have "our own" pic in pic ... and so I decided to "attempt" to construct my own present ....
speaking of birthdays ... isn't yours in April, or is it June ... can't recall for sure ..
how's about you coming down, bring Pat, too, and help me stick all this together .. all the stuff should be in hand in a week or so ....
