Altair Builds Commercial Scale Centrifugal Jig
CODY, Wyo., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Altair International Inc. (ASE: AIL/Nasdaq: ALTIF) today announced it has built a high capacity version of its Centrifugal Jig, with a feed rate about five times that of current working units.
``Providing that the Jig will 'scale up' for high volume applications is an important step for Altair,'' said Dr. William Long, president of Altair International. ``We'll now be able to do high volume processing of heavy mineral sands, gold and other minerals.''
The commercial scale unit has been designated a 30/16 model and has a cylindrical screen 30`` in diameter and 16'' in height, with all other Jig components correspondingly scaled. It has been transported to Florida for installation in a large heavy mineral sand producer's mineral recovery plant. High volume testing will be done on stream in the normal plant operating environment. Jig concentrate and tailings products will be commingled with other plant outputs.
Separately, Altair has completed a third round of exploration drilling on its Camden, Tenn., titanium sand property. Altair has now completed a total of 38 holes which provide basic information in determining the extent of mineralization and the distribution and grade of contained heavy minerals. Reserve estimates will be prepared in the near future of developments.
Altair is in the development stage of commercializing its state-of the-art technology, the Centrifugal Jig, which recovers extremely fine, heavy particulate matter using a combination of a mechanical jig and centrifugal force. Potential applications include gold/mineral recovery, coal cleaning and environmental remediation. Altair is the 100% owner of a major titanium metals deposit in Tennessee.
The Alberta Stock Exchange neither approves nor disapproves of the information contained therein.
