Mike,

I've been very high on General Challenge since last spring. I think he was the most talented 3yo last year. Unfortunately, he failed miserably in the Derby, Breeders Cup, and one other trip out of town so I didn't look to smart. In those races he often finished well behind horses he was trouncing on CA. Maybe he's just a poor shipper or moody, but I think they have to give him one more chance to redeem himself. It was a terrifc performance against a very tough field.

I'm no big fan of Cat Thief. I think he's a consistent sort that rarely gets the job done. I also think he's been getting very overbet since his BC victory. That was a great ticket for you, but I think it was bias aided.

There's a "value" lesson in that. One huge bias aided victory can give a horse an undeserved reputation that makes him a great "bet against" for a few races. He was worse than expected in this last race so you may be right. He's toast.

I wasn't overly impressed with the winner of the San Raphael. He's very highly regarded, but the whole field was getting to him late. Lots of talent, unbelievable pedigree, but he may be short on seasoning for a Derby horse. He's the early favorite right now.
