Elmer, The patch, (Write combing) for Windows NT Sp5 is merely a patch which turns on write combining in the Athlon. Athlon normally start with write combining (to my knowledge) turned off at boot to be overly conservative. This flag merely toggles a bit in the CPU to turn on write combining. Steve
