I've been a spectator to this forum for over a year now (I may have posted once or twice), and I just wanted to say, first off, that I appreciate all the informative posts that you, John Morrison and others put out there for us all to see.

Basically, I just noticed an article from 12/19 on the Bloomberg that I couldn't find any references to in this thread. Admittedly, I might have just missed it, but apparently there was a Bloomberg Forum where Steenbergen was addressing analysts.

He said that analysts expect Amati to spend about $5MM - $8MM in cash to become profitable by the end of 1997. The article went on to state that Amati now has $2.5 million in cash and expected to get another $5MM on 12/20 from the Chatterjee Group, one of Soros's investment arms. An allusion was made to the fact (documented on this site by you and others) that Chatterjee and other Soros funds bought 7.2% of Amati in October.

I found this interesting... didn't know that Soros had actually given the company a cash infusion. Seems like Soros has an active interest in the company and not just an investment position.

Sorry I don't have a URL for this article. It can be found on a Bloomberg terminal, though.
