In some areas the deer and elk have chronic wasting disease which is like mad cow disease. One area of CO that I used to hunt elk in you have to bring the head in to have the animal tested as part of the registration process. Needless to say that is an area I used to hunt.

I love my 25/06. I use a lot of the little, fast rounds. Also have a 6mm that I really like. Of course I have magnums also, but as shootie said a bad shot with the magnum isn't any better then a bad shot with anything else. I have found that a well placed shot with the 25 and the deer tends to move about 18", straight down. No tracking involved, just the way I like it:)
