I hope no direct war between the US and Russia ever happens. It could easily end up as MAD. Assured mutual wipeout. It’s not a joke. Don’t forget that from the U.S. point of view, it makes no sense to have a total confrontation with Russia - without, at the same time, “weakening” China - which, if it stays intact, would immediately become the global hegemon, that wet dream of political a$$holes. So, China would be attacked anyway. And the Chinese know this.

Direct total war involving great powers is something that should simply never happen.

Even if the great powers cooperate, it would be hard enough to keep other people from blowing the place up.
