TD Various levels of sophistication ("intelligence") are present in various stock reporting systems. Occasionally, a trade is entered incorrectly at a brokerage and needs to be corrected. When this happens, the originally reported price and volume must be "expunged" from the record and replaced with the correct value. Some software is capable of doing so and some is not. Those that can not over-report volume for obvious reasons.
