Lee--'God Bless' seems to be one of the defining moments for authors.
Charles Dickens may have been a fine author but I have never forgiven him for the final scene of Christmas Tale when Tiny Tim says "God Bless us everyone." [It was good to see your face when I said that. Made it worth a lot of bad TV specials.]
Another great one is the final scene in the movie 'Buffalo Bill' when a little kid (on crutches) yells "God bless you Buffalo Bill". I saw an interview with the director who begged to have the scene left on the cutting room floor. His comment was :"Every time I see that scene I vomit."
Some other truly disgusting scenes from literature and the cinema are: Barney singing "I love you, you love me.", The end of any Shirley Temple movie, Yes, Virgina, there is a Santa Claus, Any part of the Wizard of Oz with the Munchkins a particularly painful section, and Pokemon.
