I think what we are discussing today has no real answers in fundamental terms. It is what it is. It probably is part of the reason technicians pay little or no attention to fundamentals of any stock.

Lets take an example of CFRA analysis of NVDA and MU at the moment.

First NVDA

Our 12-month target price of $160 is based on 31.3X our FY 19 operating EPS estimate, above semiconductor peers to reflect our view of superior growth.

Then MU
Our 12-month target price of $37 is based on our P/E analysis. We apply a P/E of 6.2X to our FY 19 operating EPS estimate, which is well below other semiconductor companies; warranted, we think, to reflect our view of high earnings volatility and business risk.

NVDA has superior growth and MU has high earnings volatility and business risk. One justifies a 31.3 PE to the 2019 earnings estimate, and the other justifies a 6.2 PE to the 2019 earnings estimate.
