I think most people understand, it's just that they would rather keep splitting hairs. "Yeah but," has become an annoying national pasttime. People will only talk about the practical points of a subject for 10 seconds before they turn dramatic and start rambling about the alternative conditions. It's just human nature to be dramatic. Look at someone like GeorgeKlooney, one day he talks about the need for Western aid in Africa and the next day he wants to star in Bollywood movies.
