It could have been MERS. No way to tell without special testing. cdc.gov

But, with the new version of Omicron having a R0 of up to 18 (each patient transmitting it to 18 persons) - I think that should be the primary suspect.

Of course, with Grant Wahl, there is also the recent CoViD booster in the mix.
