enlightening the great unwashed 3D graphic investors that try to painfully follow this industry. (Much like English peasants following the complex plot of a Shakespearen tradegy/comedy ;-)...

I agree with your Intel analysis and have been raising the warning flag here for sometime on this topic. I believe its a major factor in S3's price, since they seem to have the most to lose.

What's your insight on the summer 1998 timeframe for Auburn? I thought originally the alliance deal was supposed to produce product in the second half of 97? Now I realize that marketing people set dates and the labs build product, but are you saying that Intel's chip won't ship till summer 98, or won't have impact till then??? I thought they'd have at least something out in time for the Xmas 97, high-end consumer market that would help sell the Klamath/AGP chipset.

The timing is key for S3 because if they can stay strong thru 4Q 97, meet or beat consensus estimates and not get leap-frogged by your fine company or others, this stock may actually break $20 this year!!! By mid 98, S3 should have some breathing room because hopefully they will have some real revenue from products other than Virge (ie SonicVibes, etc.)

What are your thoughts?
(By the way while I own S3 stock my high-end PC sports an ATI Rage...)

The Shakespeare quote that seems relevant is:

Intel oh Intel, when for art thou oh Intel???
