I don't remember where I read it, but it has been shown that over a lifetime the vast majority of market participants lose money. Most people would be better off if they had never ever purchased a single share.

We are hard-wired to lose money. Even on this thread, where everyone already knows the drill, every time as a move proceeds one can sense how more and more people are buying into it. Being excessively contrarian can be just as dangerous. One must be contrarian - but in a rather weird, super flexible, "Ego-less" kind of a way. And even this is not enough, for one also must be able to remain consistently disciplined - year after year. And these are just some of "pre-requisites" for the job.

Every trader should ask oneself, "Can I do it?" And also, no less importantly, "Do I really want it?"
