There is another interesting part of the Excite news release, imho. Excite does not mention that you will be able to access your e-mail off line via magicTalk. It appears that the exclusivity of the original deal therefore still only applies to voicemail.

"Excite@Home is the only major Internet portal offering free voicemail, fax and e-mail all in one place. Excite Voicemail, which
is powered by General Magic, was first introduced in July 1999 and provides users with a toll-free phone number and personal
extension where they can receive voice and fax messages. Nearly 1 million Excite users have already activated the service.
Excite Inbox tightly integrates an improved email experience with voicemail and fax capability into a single, Internet accessible
account. With Excite Inbox, it's easier than ever to maintain instant contact with customers, colleagues and friends."

They mention that Excite Inbox is an Internet accessible account only, not mentioning if it is accessible over the phone. I guess someone could look at this as a negative in that Excite did not expand the use of magicTalk to its e-mail. I look at it as though it leaves the door open for another e-mail provider to contract with GMGC. Maybe one that is already going to be integrating its content to work with magicTalk?

Meanwhile, GMGC appears able to now provide us with updated numbers of combined users of Excite and MyTalk. Looks like time for some PR to occur.
