Near, you're statement doesn't seem correct. You said:
MRV did not acquire NBase. NBase is simply the brand name for MRV in the networking industry. There was never any charge for purchasing NBase.

I found this:
" In 1994, the Company expanded its stand-alone product line to include products incorporating Ethernet switching technology aimed at improving network throughput and distance enhancement in LANS. In 1995 the Company began shipment of its first Fast Ethernet (100Mb) LAN Switches."

More correctly:
During this period, the company took charges to acquire in-process technology to expand into the above areas. I'm not sure if flat-out acquisition was the method. Anyone else comment? The point is, they did a great job in this expansion in terms of earnings.
