<actually, this is kinda on topic -G> G'day all - dear Stitch, re: LTCM & the rarefied circles, these semi-mortals [vs us mortals <vbg>] are very much like the characters of the mythologies, hindi, buddhist or even greco. They fight, they quarrel, and they use the mere mortals as the pawns.
Ask Mrs Stitch if she read any of Kim Yeu [sorry, poor transliteration] novels [biographical note: he was the former editor of Ming Po,] One of them was the 8 categories of demigod [one of the 6 classes of beings a la buddhist classification] Anyway, it was a fun novel [chinese spagetti western <g>] in which many characters with exceptional qualities were battling one another for power and love [well, what else is new?!]
So, looking at the LTCM saga, maybe history will show this is another episode of "human, all too human" <wink>
