And I think if you tried to end-run the TiVo set-up model by unplugging your phone line in order to prevent the data from being uploaded to the company's DB server, I'm sure you would get some kind of feedback from your DBS provider.

I was just saying that after one cancels their TiVo service they could unplug the box from the phone line just to ensure nothing surreptitious was going on.

Either you use the TiVo to record programming & offer to TiVo your viewing habits, or you don't use TiVo at all.

Exactly. I think the DBS receiver would still be functional even with the TiVo feature turned off.

I think we simply have different views on this. Neither one of us is right. This is a personal choice.
