Here's your link and an expanded, outrageous quote:

"We always knew the initial estimate was way under the real cost. Just like we never had a real cost for the Central Subway or the Bay Bridge or any other massive construction project. So get off it.

In the world of civic projects, the first budget is really just a down payment. If people knew the real cost from the start, nothing would ever be approved.

The idea is to get going. Start digging a hole and make it so big, there's no alternative to coming up with the money to fill it in."

Oh hell..........I misread your initial post.............I thought you said Jerry Brown. Willie Brown is an asshole...........please don't waste my time with his jibberish.

>> Which is under consideration but going no where.

There are serious people investing a lot of time, and ultimately a lot of money, to make it happen. As I pointed out years ago, it is one of the most sensible areas of the country to put a rail system, and it can be funded by private investment. And it should be. Without ONE NICKEL of public money.

Let's see if TX hi speed rail gets built without some gov't subsidy or some gov't freebie..............like providing the rail or the land for the right of way. At some point, I expect to see the for profit corp with their hand extended looking for a hand out.

These projects should not be pursued on public money.

God you are so naive and brainwashed. Of course, public money should be pursued............its for the public good.
