doesn't make sense , controlled explosion. vs putting out the fire around the cars.


Many years ago, I did design work on a barge to carry vinyl chloride. It is nasty stuff, explosive over a wide range of air/gas ratios. An explosion would have been much worse. Once the cars leaked there were no good options.
