Allen,

The problem is restraint. How long can Israel stand by, with the greater military force, and watch the futility at the global political process while their civilians are attacked/murdered ?

As Nadine pointed out, if Sharon had still been in office then war would have been declared, as the Pal's now have their government and can be declared a hostile nation, and then peace may have been possible. That still may happen but until then the dance continues.
