Yes sorry, that comment was offhand re: Royal. They do use puts which is of course not the type of hedging we worry about unless they get into some bizarre derivatives stuff. On the other hand their possible gains tied to the rise in POG must give Placer pause. This has made me read deeper and maybe I should just put them in the drawer with the little guys.

Since Kinross loss was 'less' than expected maybe they'll behave like the net companies used to when the 'loss' wasn't too bad ;o)
