No problemo.

A better answer to a "different" question is what Intel does with older technologies and wafer fabs after their leading edge products move on to newer processes and fabs.

Historically, Intel has moved embedded processors (80C48, 80C51, 80C251, i960, chip sets and other peripheral circuits into the "abandoned" processes, essentially trailing the x86 stuff by one generation.

This provides die size reductions, speed increases, and large cost reductions as these devices are then produced on fully (or nearly fully) depreciated manufacturing lines. Someone once referred to this as "recycling".

So, Intel milks their investment cows at least twice.
