"They just don't like the fact that Britain props up Northern Ireland regime."

Not sure what that means. Britain is an area of land including all of Great Britain along with all of Ireland.

Great Britain is the area of land including England, Scotland and Wales, along with a few local small islands.

United Kingdom is the name of the country which includes Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and a few other islands here and there.

SO I guess you meant UK props up the Northern Ireland regime. But UK is the Northern Ireland regime.

That would be like me saying "USA props up the Texas regime" if a minority of Texans wanted to leave the USA.

Anyway, this is OT. The original point was Europe's readiness for terrorist attacks. I think we are ahead of USA in terms of airport security etc and there is reason to think of us as a soft touch based on how the legal system has dealt with terrorism in the past. Whether the legal system would be so lenient with Al Quaida remains to be seen. I do know that there would be a massive outcry if we shipped people to Guantanamo without trial although I personally can see the benefits of that approach.
