LF..cpq inputs forecast to their enterprise logistic systems.
but PO are created for 60 day window and a customer is actually given bigger discount in the way of points for keeping a po for 60 days of the forecast cycle and then more points for not changing those po's and more points for managing their inventory so they don't return
mat'l.
I know cpq has an accurate read on delaers.. My group wrote the system and I even went to germany to train europe and far east.

They are now planning to put dealer inventory in their MRP 10 sec. regen system.
All your points on this are fine..but they stress qtr to qtr more than you think. and the dealer inventory is planned a whole lot more than you think.
LF..they create a model per customer. when the customer is out of model they plan for returns or slower order rate...it's automatic
and the systems were simple.
That's what they meant by their response to the store inv. looks high observation that came out this month...they reponded with for this time of yr the inventory is w/i plan.

Also, the dealer loses points for modifying po's and cancelling pos w/i a window. they let they do it, ut it will effect their future kickbacks in advertising points etc. etc.

I'll stick with my point that they will reserve off too much to report 2.00 eps.
