I agree with you that rates will probably go up 25 basis points. However I think that the market is now expecting this to happen and that the impact will be minimal. If Intel breaks $2.00 for 4Q96 (which I hope for but do not take as a given), and if it exceeds that for 1Q97, people will clearly begin to calculate Intel's worth based on an $8/share/yr net (many already are). At a P/E of 20, which is the MINIMUM for a company of Intel's class that has performed as Intel then would have, I can't imagine that the stock price would be anything less than $160, by April. However if all of this comes to pass, and there are no MAJOR overall market upsets (many if's I will grant you; but I would not consider a 25 bp fed increase to be a major market upset), I believe that we could well see INTC at 200 by the middle of April.
