The major oil companies lost percentage depletion in 1974. Smaller companies and royalty owners still get this.

The domestic mfg tax deduction and foreign tax credits aren't limited to the energy industry.

Intangible drilling costs are similar to mine development costs and for some time you have to capitalize a portion of them. But it doesn't matter, its a timing matter relating to when you get to deduct your costs.
