Joe,

re: printers

I bought an Epson 740 printer this summer for my Father-in-Law and now see that it is being phased out. The price in the U.S. for this device is under $150.00 right now. That is, they are practically giving them away. The costs related to consumables such as glossy paper and ink cartridges is where they really profit.

This printer is nice in that only a single set of print cartridges is need (rather than specific photographic cartridges) and the individual dots are very small...in the range of 6 picoliters. The successor will be able to lay down 3 picoliter droplets!

I like the idea of being able to set the printer up to do 4 x 6's on photographic (glossy) paper and then selecting only the best images for hard copies.

Has anybody tried any of the on-line photo services? I understand they do high quality images from photos you e-mail to them at a very reasonable cost.
