To All: Did anyone notice the huge gains for disk drive component makers today! QUICK TAKES: Hutchinson Technology's strength moved the shares of other disk drive industry component suppliers, including KOMAG (NASDAQ: KMAG), up $3 to $35 3/4; HMT TECHNOLOGY (NASDAQ: HMTT), up $7/8 to $18 5/8; STORMEDIA INC. (NASDAQ: STMD), up $7/8 to $ 14 3/4; READ-RITE (NASDAQ: RDRT), up $2 1/2 to $25 5/8; and INNOVEX (NASDAQ: INVX), up $3 1/4 to $41 1/2... I think this demonstrates just how strong the disk drive market is! We may be in for a strong move in Ampex WHEN they announce the first KM contract.
